Everything you need to know about fees, insurance, payment options and more.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of a therapy session depends on several factors:
your benefits, if using insurance
type and length of session
your therapist’s level of experience or specialized expertise
Our private pay fees
If you are not using insurance, our fees start at $100 for an individual session, or $120 for couples.
Our supervised clinical interns offer sessions at $50 for individuals and couples.
Intake fees are $140 for individual and $160 for a couple or family counseling intake.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, some of our clinicians offer limited sliding scale slots starting at $70 per session for individual sessions, and $90 per session for couples. You can submit an application through our online client portal after your intake session.
For a full list of therapists and fees, see our therapists’ profiles.
If using insurance, your copay could be as low as $0.
Using insurance can make therapy more affordable. Contact your insurance provider and ask about mental health benefits.
Ask about:
Copay, coinsurance, and deductible amounts
In‑network vs. out‑of‑network coverage
Pre‑authorization or session‑limit rules
Coverage for couples/family/group therapy
Note down a customer‑service reference number and rep name/date.
Should I use insurance?
Using insurance can make therapy more affordable, but it’s not the right choice for everyone. To help you decide what works best for you, here is a quick comparison:
Using Insurance
Insurance can help lower the cost of therapy, but what you pay depends on your plan. You might have a copay or coinsurance, and sometimes you’ll need to meet a deductible before coverage starts. We’ll file claims on your behalf, and in most cases we also handle authorizations (EAP programs usually ask you to call in first). Insurance does require a mental health diagnosis, and sessions need to be with in-network providers. Some plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network care, while others don’t. Even with insurance, surprise bills can happen if your benefits have limits or if a claim is denied.
Self‑Pay
With self‑pay, you cover the full session fee up front. You’re free to choose any therapist who feels like the right fit. No formal diagnosis is required, and you can set session lengths and styles to match your needs. Our simple, transparent billing means no hidden surprises.
Affordable options
Some of our therapists offer sliding‑scale options. If you are experiencing financial hardship, submit an application through our online client portal after your intake session.
Our fully supervised clinical interns offer sessions at $50.
We accept all major insurances, EAPs, FSA/HSA, and private pay.
Patient responsibility fees can be paid via major credit cards, bank transfers (through SquareUp), or CareCredit.
